When visual merchandising gets nasty.

This image was released earlier on this week. The image of an Alexander McQueen dress 'hung' in the Manchester Selfridges store window is causing a stir through various blogs and the media. The display is incredibly inappropriate due to Alexander McQueen's death earlier this year on the 11th February 2010. McQueen hung himself in his wardrobe in his London home and was pronounced dead at the scene. The proximity to his death increases how offencive this image is, but perhaps the publicity gained from this was innentional to enlighten the tragic event?
Though he was a pioneer of fashion he was a real man, but this display makes his life almost pornographic, making his life a mockery and distracts from the reality of the actual even and in turn makes it more of a novelty. It is also aparant that Selfridges use of shock tactics are uselised to increase there commerce.
It amazes me that the idea was approved and that it was followed through. I hope that the situation will be dealt with with swiftly and accordingly with tact.

RIP Alexander McQueen.
